Search for Executive Director

The State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana, located in New Orleans, seeks to fill the position of Executive Director.  Licensed CPA applicants are preferred, but candidates with a strong administrative background in the public or private sector will be considered.

Position Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the administrative, operational, and financial functions of the State Board, including implementation of Board policy; issuance of CPA certificates and firm permits; application and annual renewal processing; oversight of CPA examination activities, compliance programs, and investigative proceedings; financial reporting and budgeting; human resources; purchasing, procurement and contracts; rulemaking drafts and procedures; management of communication and information systems; custody of official records; and, compliance with laws and regulations. Incumbent must maintain and foster effective relationships with governmental agencies, professional associations, outside counsel, vendors and contractors, and other interested parties. Occasional travel is required.

About the State Board

The State Board is a licensing agency of the State of Louisiana with over 12,500 registered CPAs and Firms. The Board’s enabling legislation is comprised by R.S. 37:71-et seq. The Board acts in the public interest to promote the reliability of public accounting practice and financial reporting. Operations are funded through self-generated funds derived from license fees. The State Board is composed of seven members who are licensed CPAs appointed by the Governor. The Board currently has eight full-time staff.  Offices are located in the Pan American Life Center in downtown New Orleans.

Compensation, Benefits, and Employment Offer

The State Board offers compensation at a level commensurate with qualifications for this unclassified position. Fringe benefits, such as, health insurance through the Office of Group Benefits (OGB) and the LA state employees’ retirement plan (LASERS) are available. Employees are under the State’s ethics code and our agency staff must not have a financial interest in a CPA firm, activities, or relationships inconsistent with the Board’s mission. An offer of employment for this position is expected to be made by January and will be contingent upon completion and acceptance of background checks.
